The data on this Website reflects values, parcel numbers and legal descriptions as of January 1st of each year as they were certified by assessment rolls to the property owners. Any changes made by splits and/or consolidations due to deeds and surveys during the year will not be reflected until the following certification to the property owner by the mailing of an assessment roll.
NEW HOMEOWNERS-Be sure to apply for homestead and military Tax Credits by July 1. The application is available at the Assessor's Office.
FAMILY FARM APPLICANTS - It is the responsibility of each Family Farm Tax Credit applicant to file an application for the credit with the county assessor by November 1st. No further filing is required as long as the property continues to be farmed by the designated person on the application.
You can sign up for tax credits and other exemptions in our office during the business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 p.m. Our office is located on the third floor of the Jefferson County Courthouse.
COMMERCIAL PROPERTY OWNERS - The Business Property Tax Credit is a credit against taxes based on valuation, for Commercial, Industrial, and Railroad Property. Property owners may claim and receive a credit for each eligible unit. Application deadline is March 15 of each year.
